Changed Technicolour for Cisco EPC3925, now only getting half speeds from 240Mbps.

Used to get around 220Mbps with the technicolour, now getting around 110Mbps with the Cisco. Upstream is the same as before.

The problem happened as soon as the modem was switched, and has been so for around a week.

    Things I've tried:
    - Changing ethernet cable.
    - Changing coaxial cable.
    - Changing UPC outlet.

Power Level: Signal to Noise Ratio:
    Channel 1: -6.4 dBmV 39.4 dB
    Channel 2: -5.5 dBmV 39.6 dB
    Channel 3: -5.5 dBmV 39.9 dB
    Channel 4: -5.8 dBmV 39.4 dB
    Channel 5: -4.6 dBmV 39.6 dB
    Channel 6: -4.8 dBmV 39.9 dB
    Channel 7: -5.8 dBmV 39.4 dB
    Channel 8: -5.5 dBmV 39.0 dB

Router won't let me change MTU (greyed out). Since I've eliminated the 3 variables above, and the change happened as soon as the modem was swapped (I don't have the technicolour anymore) it must be the modem. What can I do, if anything?

    Thank you.

If its the modem, change back!

Yup, asked them to change it. They said the people in the warehouse just pick a random one, so I could end up with the same Cisco with the same problems. 10/10 service.

Upstream is definitely 20Mb and not 12Mb?

Yup, I get around 22Mbps upload. The modems a joke. It switches UPnP off itself sporadically.

Probably why I'm getting strange problems in League of Legends.

Tenner says you're on CGN so, thats why UPnP is off and MTU is fixed. In this case its "DS-Lite".

You need to b1tch to their support.

Can you explain this to me? I am on DS-Lite. What does this mean for me?

Haha..well I have PM'd the UPC reps to sort it out, failing that I suppose I can always throw one of my trademark tantrums.

Hey guys, I thought I'd update the thread.

So, the new router came today. It was the same old Cisco, but I had hope.

Ran a speedtest, still half speeds! Aghh!

BUT, then Brian from the UPC reps switched me over to an Ipv4 address.
Great, I thought. Now I can at least run LoL and other programs/games. Just for the laugh, I did a speedtest not expecting it to change much.

    ...and....

Full speeds now! Thanks Brian! I don't know how many times I would need to call UPC to have figured this out. A big thanks to all who helped me in the thread, too.

I can't edit posts for some reason, but ED E, you're never getting that tenner out of me.

Yes, UPC have silently introduced DS-Lite, breaking apps/services that require port forwarding and degrading IPv4 throughput. For reference here are a couple of useful links for troubleshooting:

To check if you have an IPv4 or IPv6 address or both:

    http://ip6.me

To concurrently perform separate IPv4 and IPv6 speedtests:

    http://ipv6-test.com/speedtest
