Receiving jobseekers allowance after returning from abroad

Hi,

I am planning on returning to Ireland after working abroad for two years. I worked in Ireland on and off 5 years in Ireland from 2009 to 2013.

I hope to get a job as soon as possible, but I would like to apply for jobseekers allowance while I search for a job.

Will I be eligible after living abroad for two years?

Would I be able to begin the process a few weeks before returning or will I have to be in the country?

From what I remember talking to the mates when they got back you may have to fill out a residency declaration to say your back in Ireland full time and actively seaking for work here. Show them your passport so they can check for any foreign visa status and evidence of when you returned, financial status etc.

You have to be in the country and go in and meet them in person. Theres new biometric social services cards now so youll have to get one of them too. Didnt hear any complaints from anyone though so it must be a fairly straightforward process.
