Or the man is annoyed and emotional and has reacted angrily to the situation. Plus being a well know inter county hurler makes it likely that someone will turn the thieves in, thus making future robberies less likely.

Couldn't catch a Galway player last weekend, what chance has he of catching the thieves.

I'd say in a really busy bar the profit in a week could be 5k, the turnover could be a multiple of that. Not many of them mind you, but have heard of the odd one that is turning over 20k plus pw.

Maybe not the wisest decision to go on twitter more or less advertising the pubs profitability, but I'd imagine he, like many others in Tipperary and Limerick, is fairly pissed off with the spate of robberies in the area. I'm thinking of the poor man who died of a heart attack during the week when confronted by burglars at his home.

The mans weeks livelihood has been robbed and he is entitled to be outraged. Personally I hope he gets every cent back and the scum who robbed him are put away

I understand he is pissed off, and we all would be but again to offer that reward suggests the weekly takings must be fairly substantial and if that is the case and the bar is that busy I am sure he will recoup the loss quickly if the pub is that busy

The guy had a way OTT reaction on twitter, but this is how many small-business owners would react, if they had just been robbed of their takings and employees' wages.

In the last small business I worked for, we went to the bank once a week. This cash might have been building up since last Friday. That would be a devastating loss for anyone in a small business with employees and taxes to pay.

I don't care who he is, I have sympathy for him. How could you not?

The €5k amount he offered is probably more an indication of how pissed off he is, rather than necessarily the profit of the bar in a given week

http://www.breakingnews.ie/ireland/hurler-lar-corbett-in-passionate-plea-for-help-after-pubs-takings-stolen-693328.html So he has has a weeks taking robbed yet is offering 5k reward. Begs the question how much is a weeks takings, and after expenses, tax etc his profit must be huge to offer that reward.

What kind of plonker keeps a weeks takings in a pub?? I smell a scam or insurance fraud!

It did not beg that question at all. Maybe he's using his life savings to find the thief out of principle?

Have they no banks or even credit unions in the area where a daily lodgement could be made??

If you return the money that will be the end of it, I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. If you dont, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.

5k isn't a massive amount of money and would easily be worth the satisfaction of seeing the burglar behind bars.

    AHA!!! behind bars..... geddit???

Oddly enough, I'm not finding it begging the question at all, I'm thinking 'fair enough, I hope the buggers are caught, there's way too much of that in that part of the country lately'.

Agree with the "fishing for gossip" post. It's like a granny knitting circle on AH at times when there's not much going on in the world to talk about.

Do you reckon it was datura? Or maybe 2c-t-7? Or a bitta hash?

I briefly worked in a bar last year where the takings on a non descript Friday were in excess of 18k.

I think the pub just closed for the night. Robbery took place after 2am and it would probably be more risky to carry the cash to the lodge boxes.

How does a crime like this happen in a big town just off Liberty Square (Parnell Street) which was full of people heading home from the pub?

The town has monitored CCTV cameras on every street and the Garda divisional headquarters are nearby so it's nothing to do with Garda numbers. More than likely just lazy Gardai who couldn't be arsed to follow the thief with the CCTV.

I reckon whoever did it had an accomplice watching staff remove the takings and locking up.

    Must be huge? It's 5k, not 50k.

I'd nearly offer that if someone robbed my house. Justice and peace of mind etc.

A weeks takings sitting in the place just begging to be robbed though! Why would any savvy business keep so much cash on premises? Could the takings from each day not be deposited in night safe or even into bank or night safe the next morning?

Also you will probably find that CCTV is not or only rarely monitored and only when there is some event on or minister in town. Money is not there to provide for 24/7 or even office hours monitoring of any towns CCTV.

Yeah it must be that because if you were up to something dodgy the first thing you would do is draw lots of attention to yourself.

Catching the thieves and recovering the money are two separate things. 5k reward has no bearing on how much was stolen because he's not expecting to get it back from them. Just straight up rage, he wants to catch these guys and see justice done. Same as anyone who's robbed really, it's not the stuff that was taken that hurts, it's the personal violation that's taken place.

It'll be insured to a point anyway. He'll recoup any lost staff wages and expenses, but he'll likely make no profit for the week.

That's what I was thinking as he has the two pillar banks 30 seconds and 1 minute stroll from the pub but then again I don't think its to hectic during the week so I would say the bulk of it would have been from last night and Friday night.

Don't see anything wrong with him putting up the money regardless if it even made a loss on the recovered money.
Probably has a fair idea who done it and the money might hasten an arrest when one of the scummers "friends" catches sight of a quick buck to do scummy stuff with.

That has to be the most illogical conclusion of the week. Turnover does not equal profit by a long way.
Perhaps he just wants the gits brought to justice.
