Medion tablet charging issues

The father got one in aldi two weeks ago. They where watching a film on it and it went dead. After much issues(including factory restore) it seems to be charging ok, but only with the original plug/cable. Is this normal? I've used various combinations for phones with only issue being slow never not charging.
