NCT Emissions

    Hi All;

    I have failed the NCT twice on emissions, are there any suggestion on how I can get my car to pass?

    Spark plugs have been changed, drove car with high revs prior to test with dipetane in tank.

    Below are the details

    2005 VW 1.2L Polo
    1st Emissions - engine temperature 95C
    Low Idle: 781 rpm
    CO: 0.15 vol%
    HC: 13ppm

    High Idle: 2,694 rpm
    CO: 0.42 vol%
    HC: 10ppm


    2nd Emissions - engine temperature 98C

    Low Idle: 799
    CO: 0.08 vol%
    HC: 16ppm


    High Idle: 3,041 rpm
    Lambda: 0.99
    CO: 0.62 vol%
    HC: 17ppm

    Get a compression test done. It probably has burnt valves.

    Have you replaced the lamda/oxygen sevsors on the exhaust?
    I got caught out before with a non genuine sensor it caused the readings to go wild..
    Replaced with a second hand sensor and job done

    It was the one at the exhaust manifold that was causing the problem

    Has all the usual signs of a catalytic converter issue.
