Partial Hearing - Home Cinema causing problems

    Hi all.

I have recently lost most of my hearing in one of my ears (permanent condition).

As a result I can no longer tolerate the bassy sound from my 5.1 home cinema.
I also cannot tolerate the way 5.1 separates the sound amongst the various speakers.
I struggle to hear dialogue on the TV's regular speakers without having it turned up so loud that it wakes the kids. My TV room is already wired for 5.1.

Is there any way I can get clear non bassy sound from the TV and in stereo only through my existing speakers
