Black Paintwork - Advice Please

    Hi All,

Looking to get a deep glossy shine on my motorbike.

I am about to throw out my current car shampoo and wax as I realise after reading this forum that they are basically crap (Car Plan Shampoo and Turtle Wax...)

I do have a small bottle of Autoglym Super Resin Polish however.

So what shampoo would you recommend? Anything in particular for black paintwork? I was looking at the Autoglym Shampoo Conditioner as it is PH neutral. Is this a good choice?

Same goes for a wax. Or should I be looking at a sealant? Is one more suitable over the other when it comes to getting a deep glossy shine on black paintwork? I was looking at the Meguiar's Deep Crystal Carnauba Wax, is this a good choice or should I go with Autoglym again?

Also as side note, the front cowl is stone chipped and the front mudguard has a rough surface on it, so much so I cannot get that smooth glass like finish like I can on the tank or seat cowl, due to surface blemishes and polishing it does nothing for it. What is the recommended course of action to remedy this (either stone chips or rough surface on front mudguard)?

    Any advice greatly appreciated.

You should be fine with products you mentioned. Normally a question of wax or sealant, imo wax for show. sealant for everyday use. Sealant tends to be longer lasting but these days wax is just as good when done right.

As for polishing you can get decent finish by hand but a machine polish should see a better finish before choice wax. This bit is what will give you quality deep shine.

As for your body issues get them re painted so all a good level surface to work with.

Lots of good vids on you tube will give you the step by step what to do's to get best finish's. Try ammonyc on youtube
