    All,

Thinking of going to the frankfurt motor show. Never been to an international show but from previous peoples experience, is it possible to go over and back on the one day, fly out at 7am and fly back at 8pm that evening.

    Cheers

    hi

planned my 3rd visit in September earlier this year. Its a great event and to try to take it all in in one day would be hard going . I normally take 2.5 days ( fly out earlier sat morning and return Monday night ).

    well well worth it.

Yea I've a notion of flying out early day 1 (might just buy a 2 day ticket), check in and go to the hotel, then go down the afternoon and break the back of it, then spend day 2 solid at it. Am I right that the official booklet is 26e, yet the tickets are 12-14e:eek:

I've done a couple of international ones, not Frankfurt though, yet.

I would have thought trying to fly in/out and do the entire show in a day would be a bit stressful. Isn't Frankfurt one of the bigger ones too?

I made a weekend of it allowing one full day for only the motor show.

    hi

definitly make it 2 days its a large area to cover and I spent an whole afternoon alone in the Mercedes show area and the BMW and Audi area can be just as big.

I'm sure its possible but why would you want to do that yourself? You fly out at 7, 2 hours flight, add 1 hour on, then get out of the airport and onto the Messegelande minimum 1 hour (optimistic). So its 11 to 12 before you actually see the place and you would want to be leaving no later than 5 and that being optimistic again with regards to traffic and everything. And you haven't actually had a bite to eat yet. Doesn't sound like fun to me.

I also think Frankfurt is too much to see in one day. I've taken two days before (arrive mid-morning the first day & leave around 5-6 the second day) and it's much better. You'd probably need a third day if you were to visit the halls with all the stands for component suppliers, banks, insurance companies and the like, but for the regular punter (like me) who just wants to see the cars, two days is probably enough.

2-day ticket is 18 euro, I never bothered with the brochure. There's also an IAA (motor show) app which tells you where all the stands are, maps etc.

I believe you can test drive cars at the show? Is this for the public? Just wondering what cars and how do you get to drive them, do you need to prebook? Id imagine there would be an awful bull bait for test driving cars
