    This was on the windowsill just now. I've never seen one before,though I live in the country and thought I'd seen most things.
    Sorry about the pics ,I didn't have the camera set up right and then it flew away before I could take better ones.
    If it wasn't so big I might have thought an ant but it was about as big as an earrwig.

    Looks like what we call a Black Wasp. A solitary wasp. But I'm far from certain.
