Assessment meeting?

Hi there. I returned a few weeks ago after many years abroad and immediately went and got my forms for a dole application, including the habitual residency forms. I dropped them all back in the following day and was told to return for my first monthly sign on on September 1st, although my mother's car insurance didn't count as a valid proof of address for her, and so I had to wait another five days for her next utility bill to come through.

When I asked how the assessment was progressing, I was told it would only enter the queue on September 1st, as that is when the habitual residence officer in the HQ office returns from their holiday, although she did say that because I had been kept waiting this long she might be able to call them at the HQ and get it fast tracked, seeing as September 1st is the first signing on day that I was given anyway.

Was just wondering though, I just read the thread on waiting times here and the two last lads to post put the following on-

    Waterford city

    Jsa

    First contact june 6th,
    Assessment june 11th
    Authorisation to collect june 22
    First collection date june 23

    Kilbarrack

    Jsa

    First contact: july 15th
    Assessment: july 27th
    Authorization to collect: august 5th
    First collection date: august 11th

3.5 weeks total between presenting at intreo office and first collection.

I was just wondering what this assessment meting was about. When I brought in the book size amount of forms filled in for my claim, minus a valid utility bill, the girl at the desk, who presumably didn't know the habitual residency officer was on holiday, said that she would send all the documents for assessment, but that I should come back and add my mam's utility bill as soon as possible as they might not accept the insurance bill. When I asked her how I would find out when my first payment was due, I'm nearly certain she said I would be mailed a letter telling me when to collect at my local post office. She never mentioned any face to face meeting with the residency officer, and the other lady said she would try and fast track it by phone, so what i'm asking is do I have to go to some other meeting in a different office? I provided every single document requested proving that I am not returning to my country of prior residence, and all of the forms took nearly two hours to complete and review for mistakes, so I honestly can't figure out what additional information they could want from me.

    Thanks

What they don't want to do is give a payment to somebody whose been away living abroad and is back in Ireland to visit family, kick back and relax, catch up with old friends, while they consider where they'll be jetting off to next, and needs a bit of spending money for a few months.
So, while you've provided proof that you've cut all ties with the country you left, DSP will be looking for evidence that Ireland is now "your centre of interest". Of course the best way to demonstrate that is to provide evidence of having applied for jobs , training courses, registered with FAS? Updated your CV joined the library registered with employment agencies, opened a bank account, signed up for night classes, joined a sports/hobby club etc
The HRC officer will get a feel for your commitment to Ireland at the one to one meeting
