    Hi,

Just got a call from Audi North Dublin regarding the wear on my break pads and discs since the last service. Coming in about €700 including vat and labour to replace them.

Just wondering if anyone can recommend a garage that could do this for a better price that would be located on the north side of Dublin ?

    Thanks for any info

Seems to be standard practice for Audi Main dealers to recommend replacing the brakes and pads at crazily short intervals.
I would leave it and get a second opinion about changing them.
I heard of one guy who was told he needed new brake discs and pads and when he checked they were only replaced the previous service.
If they are worn then do replace them but I think you may find they have a lot of life left in them yet.

That's laughable. Get a second opinion for a start, but I certainly wouldn't be paying that for a set of new pads and discs on an A3.

    Yep, definitely:

    1. Overpriced

    2. Probably don't even need to be changed

    Thanks for the replies

The last service showed 85% wear in the front and 75% in the rear so I've no problem getting them replaced. But that price does seem crazy high !

What year is the car? Is it worth sending to a dealer at all?

It's a 2007 model with about 105k on the clock.

I certainly wouldn't be taking an 8 year old motor to a main dealer, unless the prices were competitive. Which is clearly not the case.

    That price is bonkers.

You can get them done in a VW garage for 480 or so, for pretty much the exact same car.

I'm sure a local mechanic would be a good bit cheaper again.

Depending on which engine is in the car then the price for the front discs and pads could be as low as €175 using decent quality parts, cheaper again if you went for spurious stuff.

    Rears around €130.
