Ptosis (lid droop)

    Hi,

Does anyone know whether possible symptoms include glare and starbursts caused by eyelid position?

The reason I'm asking is that I'm seeing glares and starbursts in both eyes (haven't had any laser surgery or wearing contacts and my astigmatism is pretty small) during the day and night.

The very weird thing is my eyelid position seems to "control" these glares and starbursts.... the more the eyes are shut / closed the worse it gets. However the more the eyes are opened the better it gets to the extent that if I keep my eyes wide open I have no glares and starbursts at all.

It was suggested to me it could possibly be a slight case of lid droop. I've been trying to find out what possible visual side affects can come with lid droop to little success so I thought I'd ask here in case anyone had lip droop or happens to know?

    Thanks.

What's your prescription like? Age? How long since your last eye exam? I'd go get your eyes tested to be honest.

Oh and it's unlikely that the lid position is causing those symptoms

    Hi,
    Thanks for replying.

In fact I've been to an optometrist and ophthalmologist about this problem in July. They have no idea what's wrong.

    I'm 32 years old.

    Prescription is:
    R Eye: SPH -4.25, CYL -0.25, AXIS 5.0
    L Eye: SPH -2.75, CYL -0.75, AXIS 50.0

My thinking about it was if all the eye exams are turning up nothing then maybe it's not the eyes that are directly causing the problem.

Since no one can explain why the eyelids are affecting it as such it seemed like a good lead to pursue before planning out my next move.

    Update.

Did a bit more research and lid droop can cause astigmatism effects (glares and starbursts).

Since my lid droop is covering the top part of my iris and the tip of my pupil I would have moderate lip droop which makes this scenario very possible.

Will post more if I have any further updates.
