So its not soccer :( lol

The young lad loves music. I wanted to get him a guitar to let him play an instrument. He's always on about it so why not.

His gran went into the instrument shop on shop street in Galway and the girl there advised getting him a ukulele first. Something about having to develop a respect for the instrument, ie. In case he smashes it.

At least i think that's what she told me. I'm on way into town now and can't get a hold of her. Any advise. I'm obviously not spending a fortune on a guitar but if i can find one at a reasonable price will be looking to buy it.

Even a small guitar will be fairly big for him... Ukulele is a great idea. Easy to play, nice and cheap and if he likes it after a few months, dropping some cash on a guitar down the line will feel more like an investment than a chance.

When he outgrows the uke, try him on a guitalele.

Lovely intermediate instrument. I have several younger/smaller students using these.

Not a toy, by the way! I have one myself. Brilliant little things. They project beautifully, gorgeous sound, and perfectly set up and playable, if a little neck-heavy.
