    I recently handed back the keys to my apartment do tp arrears, so what is tye next step regarding property tax , can i just inform revenue and stop paying ?

    But you still own it, so are liable for the property tax.

    The property tax would be the least of my concerns if I were you...

    @OP: Unfortunately as the previous poster points out as long as you own the property, technically you're liable for the LPT

    Just curious how the thing works. do the bank write off what you owe them or do you make an arrangement to pay them off some of the deficit over a longer time period?

    Checking back on this to see if there were any updates on your LPT payments?

    I have a friend of a friend who did something similar (handed back the keys to the bank and buggered off to New Zealand). Apparently his dad is getting letters to the house saying he has arrears on his property tax going back 2 years! He's now afraid to come home.
