    I am wondering can anybody help me with a query in relation to Tracker Mortgages. When we took out our mortgage in 2002 with AIB we were not giving the option of a tracker mortgage and we ended up on the variable rate. My question is that considering all the revelations in recent years in bad bank practise should we have been offered the tracker if it was one of the banks products at the time?

    Did trackers exist in 2002? I don't think so.

    Either way it's far too late now to be querying it, even if they did exist they are not obliged to offer you everything, not everyone qualifies for every product depending on circumstance.

    The present revelations relate to people who did have a tracker mortgage but through reasons of opting for a fixed rate or breaking a fixed rate were not given back their tracker.
