This will say a lot about the kind of person you are because I said so.
Lets try and stick with popular culture. For bonus please add 1 new hero who are a more recent addition.

    Mine were:

    Barack Obama.
    Derren Brown.
    Jeremy Clarkson.

Barack for his oratory. Again Derren for oratory but also sheer excellence in showmanship. Clarkson's a boss and entertained me.

    Recent Hero:

Boris Johnson. Another boss. We just simply don't rear people like this in our country. T'mor ta'pity.

Kris Kristofferson - totes ledge as the young wans say

Enda Kenny - brought the country from the brink of bankruptcy to the thriving world leader it is today

Me Da - taught me everything there is to know about turf and spuds

    Malala.

    No one else comes close.

    Maybe Chelsey Sullenberger.

And the three (4 or 5) guys who prevented a mass slaughter on the Amsterdam to Paris train.

Michael D. Higgins - for his oratory and quiet dignity.
Katie Taylor - I've no interest in watching people hitting each other, but I've always been intrigued by her quiet demeanour and that weird juxtaposition of her deeply-held religious beliefs with her propensity for hitting people really hard in the face.
Malala Yousafzai, for very obvious reasons.

Recently - Paul Murphy of the Anti-Austerity Alliance. Especially after establishment lackey, Ryan Tubridy's pathetic attempt at ambushing him on the Late Late Show.

Boris is a dick. He's a sleeper with an, as yet, undisclosed agenda.

My hero is my brother. Working in a refugee camp in Jordan making prosthetics for amputees.

Malala Yousafzai - one of the bravest people alive in my opinion.

Katie Taylor - inspirational athlete, constantly pushes herself to stay top of her game.

Dick Hoyt - brings his 51 year old disabled son with him while he runs marathons and triathlons. Pushes him in a special trolley. Amazing.

We should defend our way of life to an extent that any attempt on it is crushed, so that any adversary will never make such an attempt in the future.
