CGT Retirement Relief

    Hi All,

If an individual ceases to trade from a premises on a specific date with the intention of selling the premises, are they entitled to claim retirement relief if the premises is sold 6 months or a year later or does the fact that they have not traded up until the sale date prevent them from claiming retirement relief?

In the above scenario, assume that the conditions for claiming retirement relief are met (individual over 55, premises held for 10 years etc.) and the premises has not been put to alternative use in period before sale (i.e. premises has not been leased out)

    Cheers,
    Hcksaw.
