Worth having savings in a UK account?

Hi all, moved home from London earlier this year, left my UK account open with some savings in there. Since moving home I've been keeping my savings in my Irish account, but am thinking now about continuing to use my UK account purely as a savings account.

Is this a foolish idea? Will it have repercussions when it (potentially) comes to a point when I want to take out a loan/mortgage and don't have any savings in an Irish bank?

Would it be wiser to keep 50% of my savings in my Irish account?
