problem with drain - any advice?

    Hi,

I have an ongoing problem with a drain which I hope to resolve while getting an extension onto house next year but want to look at all options now.

I'm just looking for advice on best approach.

House is at the head of 6 or so (not entirely sure) houses which then goes out onto the main line. No line runs in front of my house to which I can connect. Would be about 20M away from driveway.

I suspect that there are a few different problems with the drain. Firstly, it can get blocked at my house. I can clear this locally. I can get this resolved easily enough when getting work done as suspect the fall isn't sufficient.

But it can also get blocked further down the line.

I plan to get a CCTV drain survey done to inspect the drain from my house up to the road to determine where the problem may lie (any recommendations here would be great - this crowd are the only one I can find who publish their prices - http://www.alldrainservices.ie).

If problem is obvious, will take it from there. Obviously will depend on neighbours being up for it. Best case scenario I'm thinking there is a damaged drain lying under someones garden - worst case it is under an extension?

Alternatively, I could look at connecting to the main sewer - would this be prohibitively expensive as would have to involve the council?

    Thanks..

A bit on the age of the setup will help a lot.
You just can't go changing the fall on sewer pipes on a whim.
\My guess is that baby wipes and other stuff is being flushed down the toilets and thats what causing the blockage.

I am at the end of 4 houses and a young family moved in at the first house on the line: sewer in my garden blocked several times, (never had an issue in 15 years) at 200 quid a pop to get cleared.
The family denied all knowledge, so we fitted a CCTV camera, with light, on the manhole in house 2 and we filmed the stuff passing, wipes, -j-rags, some nappies, the lot.
    The DVD solved the problem.
