I've changed my insurance to 25plus and now I need to renew my motor tax online. But... I don't see 25plus or MCL Insurance Services Ltd on the drop down list. Any idea what I should pick?

Your policy is most likely underwritten by AIG, 25plus is not an insurance company... Check your insurance documents.

just pick any insurer and enter any random policy number.
there is no mechanism in place to verify your insurance details on the motor tax website - yet anyway - cant see that changing soon either

The OP has all they need. May as well do it right.

    fair enough
i was merely pointing out the fact that while its a mandatory field, the details are not verified.

Even if they aren't, there's no point making a false declaration

There is no consequence to putting in any ol number or details as it is not a declaration in the strict sense. I am sure if you have a valid insurance there is nothing to worry about.
If you have no insurance at all then that would be a different matter.

I've been putting in any old number for years. Just can't be bothered to go rooting for my cert, or going out to the car to get the policy number from the disc

It does seem a bit pointless. I have a valid insurance policy but I tend to have to renew my tax a matter of weeks before that insurance runs out, rendering the policy number meaningless after those couple of weeks
