Just heard that song 'wasn't expecting that' and watched the video.
    I cried and cried..

Does anyone know if his wife actually died of cancer or is just a lyrical story.
Either way it's a beautiful song but would like to know out of curiosity!

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

I read an interview with him about it. He said he wrote it after a rough time in his life when his girlfriend left him and then his dog died a couple of weeks later. He said he wrote it as a bit of a mashup about the two tragedies.

Nah, it's all pop music. One's just more honest than the other (i.e. cotton eye joe)
