    Hi folks,

If you were to build a single storey shed / granny flat with cavity blocks and a flat roof what depth would you look to have your foundations at? Somebody said 300mm but I don't think that's deep enough. I'm open to correction though.

    Thanks.

the foundations must suit the site conditions... ie its totally dependent on the soil type and topography

no one can answer that here

except that "somebody" is very wrong. 300mm is waaaay too shallow

A shed and granny flat are two totally separate entities. One is a structure exempt from the building regulations and one is a habitable structure that requires planning permission and to comply with the full rigours of the current Building Regulations for extensions.

    Who is certifying the works?
