I have a pci e tuner card on the way in the post for my HTPC, the card has only one input but my dish has a daul LNB whats the best way forward I'm not sure if the card has a built in switch and I can just buy a 2 in 1 switch.

Anyone any ideas ? if the card doesn't have this function

    its a Hauppauge

You mean there are 2 LNBs on the dish, for 2 different satellite positions? (Or a monoblock LNB.)

The PC would need to be capable of outputting the relevant DiSEqC signals for switching, & you'd need a switch if you don't already have one.

EDIT: I see the tuner supports DiSEqC 1.0, so will be fine for switching up to 4 satellite positions.

    its a monoblock , tvtrade.ie do a DiSEqC switch http://www.freetv.ie/smart-2x1-diseqc-switch.html , would this do ?

How difficult is it to set the dish up with a second LNB at a differnet satellite say saorsat and 2nd at freesat ?

If it's definitely a monoblock, that's 2 LNBs in a single housing, it will have a DiSEqC switch built in.

WRT Saorsat, is it an 80cm dish you have?

That tuner card does terrestrial too, so you could go for Saorview rather than Saorsat, & get the full channel lineup, though you'll need a suitable terrestrial aerial. Saorsat doesn't include TV3, 3e, or UTV Ireland.

Sorry again but know feck all about satellite , I have two cables coming from the dish, the dish was on the house when I moved in, will i need a 2 into 1 Disqec switch still , the card only has one input for the satellite

Looked a saorview aerials they aren't that big I should be able to bold it on the bracket beside the dish

Right, so it's probably just a twin or quad LNB, for a single satellite position. These LNBs are for feeding multiple tuners, you only need to connect 1 of the cables to your tuner, no switch needed.

The size & siting of a Saorview aerial will depend on what the signal is like at your house. You might be alright with something the size of a 10-element 'contract' type.
