Eleaf lied about the iStick TC40w battery. It is 1850mAH not 2600mAh as advertised.

Anybody see the PBusardo review of the TC40w?

He stripped it down and showed us that the battery was stamped "6.85wh".

6.85 Watt Hours = 1850mAH. Eleaf says the battery is 2600mAh.

If you google 6.85wh tc40w you will also get some results, mostly from foreign forums discussing this issue, with photos. Google translate required.

It looks like Eleaf are lying to us. What do you think?

I tried to email them directly about it, but the customer service guy was absolutely clueless and could barely speak English.

Id be very surprised if this was the case personally. Maybe it was an issue with the first batch the were released (which is common enough it seems).

Ive one I got yesterday afternoon so I'll know by this evening anyway! So far I doubt its 1850mah given what's left on the battery.

Think it is quite normal for pre-production models which is possibly what he received from them

Well his device did say "Sample".

But why would they do this and risk getting a terrible review? They gave it to Phil Busardo, one of the most trusted liquomatic vapilizer reviewers on the planet.

In a thread on the fasttech product page, some guy measured the mAH with some sort of gizmo, and it came back as ~ 1900mAh. And I don't think fasttech are selling pre production models.

This might be just a calculation issue,
I know that there is ambiguity around this relating to mAH quoted on "power-banks" for charging mobiles/tablets/laptops. Chargers work at a higher Voltage than phone/tablets etc. but hey calculate the mAH on the phone working Voltage. ( not sure if my explanation is the correct one, but look it up )

Not sure how the argument goes, maybe it depends on the Voltage that is set as a base for the calculation.

I have one with a few weeks, not using the TC much yet so I'm running it at 14watts same as I do my 30w. It definitely has equal or slightly more MAH than the 30w.

TC drains the battery real fast though, it lasts less than a day with the GS tank on it.

Have mine about 2 weeks now and it is only lasting two days at 10.5 w. I get 3 days out of my istick 30w. As I bought it mainly for its presumed battery longevity I have sold it.

Might bite the bullet and get the istick 50w.

Forgot to add that I e-mailed the vendor regarding this, and here is their reply (after contacting eleaf with the query):

They said that iStick’s 40W electronics drain bit more power from the battery and low battery cut-off is also set little bit higher than before (for safety reasons).

    OP here.

After 4 days I think I can say that the battery life is rubbish on the TC40w.

I "upgraded" from the 30w, and this 40w lasts me only one day. The 30w would get me through two days usually. For example, I could bring it to work on a Friday morning, vape all day in work, then head out to the pub with plenty of juice left. Now I am recharging it of a Friday eve after work for fear that there'll be nothing left come 11pm. (I vape pretty low. 5-6w with a run of the mill 1.5ohm clearo)

For those of you looking at the TC40w - go for the 30w. Or the innokin coolfire IV. I heard good things about it. I didn't buy it as it's a bit too big.

Yeah, I vaped for a couple of days using a 1.1ohm kayfun build and had half a battery left. Now my usage is probably different to most in that I tend to carry at least two devices with me and vape them interchangably throughout the day.
So at two days I felt that battery life seemed fine.
So yesterday I built my first ever TC coil, on the kayfun, and it came out at .11ohms.
It read higher than that on the ohm meter though, .14 IIRC. The Kayfun is a mess for TC it seems, with the spring being terrible for consistant readings.
Anyway back on topic, that half battery lasted half a day, the thing was dead by 6pm yesterday. TC eats mah, nom nom nom.

I think I'll have to get the upgraded gold plated spring for the Kayfun.

One other thing, nickel wire is poxy to work with.
Pulling through cotton ruined the coil!

I have a personal vendetta with the spring in my Kayfun... you son are in for a arse kicking as soon as I get a replacement!

My 40TC last me around a day using it at 20-25 watts around the 1.2 ohm mark. Feels like I should get more out of it but a day is good enough for me and it just looks so cute and tiny and fits the hand real nice.

It sure is a nice piece of kit, feels, looks and performs great. Just a pity the battery life lets it down.

Have you sourced a replacement yet?
I haven't really looked, so if you have any pointers.
I know theres a US one on the market and the Svoemesto site is either down or not loading for me here in work.

I was thinking of a fasttech spares kit as it has a spring included. It looks much like the one that I have now rather then the updated gold spring.

    The Svoemesto gold spring here:

    thanks!
It was the Svoemesto site not working for me the other day, its grand now.
Might pick up a few spares and the peek insulators.

Got one of these in the post this morning, works fine but has anyone found the fire button a bit loose and rattly?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,405 ✭✭✭KillerShamrock

Thinking of getting one of these to use with my triton as my 30w is on its way out i think.

would this be the best option r should i go for another 30w or even a bump to the 50w istick?

(ps sorry for hijacking the thread :o)

Its a tidy looking device and is great for bring out and about. The 50W is a bit bigger but the battery is superb in comparison.

Overall Id recommend getting another 30w over the 40w. If the 50w isn't too big for you get that instead.

The battery life on the 40w apparently isn't the best when its in TC mode. I have a 30w and a 50w, and I'd personally choose the 50w ( because of the superior battery life ) The fire button on mine rattles a bit though, other than that its a solid piece of kit.

I see well I dont think id even use the TC I just thought it would have better battery life. One of the lads in esmoke said get the 40w. The 50w might be a bit too bulky for my liking any other recommendations. with VW and VV

If I were you I would get another 30w if the 50w is too bulky for you. My 30w outlasted by 40w by a day. This is reply from Eleaf as to why 30w lasts longer

I ordered a TC40w and GS Tank from fasttech in two separate orders. No duty. Took exactly 3 weeks and cost €35. Worth considering if you can wait.

I thought China had stopped shipping batteries? Or did I dream that up?

Fasttech will still ship batteries, got an Istick 50 w from them. Delivered in two weeks, again with no duty to pay.

Mine is loose and rattley but only when you run your finger over it, if I shake the mod it doesn't seem to rattle.
Similarly the Evic VT has a metal button which rattles when you run your finger over it, but doesn't make a sound when I shake it.

Fair enough, I was just worried it may have been a fake. Works perfectly anyway.

Not totally sold on TC after using this for a few days. Seems like a work in progress.

It sure is (a work in progress), though I believe it is the future.
That said, its working alright for me now.
The big issue is the nickel wire I got, the thin stuff is garbage to work with.
