Does anybody know what this entails ? I have a kid sitting L Cert in summer 2016 and have to drag information out of him . He seems very sketchy about the Geography Investigation , is it similar to the LC History project and what is the final submission date ? All information greatly appreciated

His class will go on a Field Study trip (or sometimes more than one trip) and collect data. He must not miss school that day. They will then interpret that data in a report, with graphs and a discussion fo their methods of data gathering etc.. The finished report must be formally submitted by 29th April 2016 and counts towards a maximum of 20% of his final grade. A teacher may well set their own earlier date for submission to check the class are OK and to make sure they get the projects in on time. Usually people do a draft first and then write out the 'proper' version before the final date.

    The topics for 2016 are:
    1. Traffic patterns in a local area.
    2. Population in a local area.
    3. A local environmental issue.
    4. Changing land - use in a local area.
    5. Local weather patterns.
    6. The impact of geomorphic process/processes and/or human activity on the
development of landform(s) in a glaciated or fluvial or coastal or karst environment

From: SEC information page for teachers and students re Geogrpahy 2016 (.pdf file)

The teacher will usually decide what topic they are doing as it is done as a group, but with individual reports.
