Filling in ceiling cracks - which product?

I removed old ceiling paper to discover some ceiling cracks.

Someone told me they (many years ago) had ceiling cracks and filled them in with a 'filla product. Though the cracks opened up again.

They then used a mastic-type product (which allowed some movement) and the cracks never opened up again.

Would anyone care to suggest a mastic-type product which I could try?

He's probably talking about decorator's caulk.

Usually the cause of Ceiling cracks is because there are not enough Noggins bracing the ceiling between rafters. If you want to cure it permanently then you will need to go into the attack and fit a few bracing's along the where the crack is. Caulking will just cure it for a short time.
