Tomorrow I will buy this bike for €309.

If anyone has anything to say for or against it, I'm all ears :)

They are a good solid starter bike, a little heavy but you get what you pay for.
They also make an excellent 2nd/winter bike if you decide to buy a better bike in the future. I recently upgraded a TDF with second hand parts, it now weighs 9.4kg (from 11.7kg) at a cost of about €200.

I saw someone say, in a review, that the wheels alone are 4kg on this bike. Is that a normal weight for wheels? Could I or should I get lighter wheels?

i think the older TDF was a lot better than the current one. The current one has shimano tourney 14 spd iirc, whereas the older one had claris or 2300 8 spd. I had two of the older ones and did a lot of miles on them. If you have an axa card you will get a further 10% off.

I have mine a year and it has been grand. Weight is not an issue as you could have twice as much around your belly. There are different models over the years. The wheels now seem to be changed. I have yet to get a puncture on mine.

The old version was a good bike for the price, the new version is pretty much a POS. Tourny gearing, heavier fork, cheaper finishing kit, it's as cheap as it is for a reason.

You'll get much better value for money on the adverts subforum here if you post a wanted thread.

I just picked this up today from halfords. Pretty happy with it but still getting used to it coming from a hybrid. I find it unusual that there're no number on the gear shifters, is that normal? Find it difficult to get my feet in the pedals as well. I can get one in but the second is always difficult 😕

Yeah it's normal not to have numbers on your shifters, somewhat surprisingly. I think no Shimano shifters have numbers on them from Tiagra upwards?

I thought it was a bit strange. Find myself relying on the gears less than I did with Hybrid. Definitely need to get my posture worked out a bit better on the carrera but loved the two 40 minute spins I've taken on it so far. Looking forward to attempting a proper trip up the Dublin mountains on it.

By the way op, if you reserve the bike on the halfords website you'll get it even cheaper. They have a special online offer at the moment. Ended up costing me about 285 or something. I had a bike to work voucher made out for the original price of 359 so picked up a very good lock as well and have some mudguards ordered
