This is to be a birthday present for someone in their 50's who has never had a tablet before, neither have I so hope someone can advise me between these two. I know the pricier one is probably a lot better but this will probably be used mostly for reading newspapers, browsing, checking email and maybe some Youtube stuff too. Their laptop is old, a monster 17" and not much good for just doing that in front of the telly!

    This Lenovo A10, £129.99 http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/2621353.htm

    or this Lenovo Tab 2 A10, £179.99 http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4123691.htm

I almost bought the second one last night when it was £149.99 but Argos put up the price overnight which put me off a bit and am wondering if the first one, £129.99 would be grand ??

    Any advice appreciated. :)

If that's what you've narrowed your choice down to then the 2nd one hands down.

Twice as fast and a far better screen. Both are only 16GB, but at least the you can get an SD card to bulk that up a bit.
You wouldn't be long filling 16GB with apps.

Books/magss/newspapers don't take much space however. If the user starts saving photos on it it will fill up even faster.

Only thing I would say, if the person isn't tech savvy, then Apple is probably a bit better. I honestly think Android has the better operating system coz you can mess around with it more, Apple's a bit like Nokia back in the day. They take great existing tech and make it easy to use for people who don't need to know about it.

Thanks for the super quick reply!

I was going with Android as he is familiar enough with that as his phone is Android too. I think you're right about the second one being much better. Curses on you Argos for putting the price up overnight!

I never though I would want a tablet but after shopping around I kind of really want one now, I want that second Lenovo!! :o
