Employer not paying money into pension fund??

Hello, I'm trying to help my father out. He was a loyal worker in a company for around 20 years. The business started to go downhill like a lot of business did in recent years. My father was paying his boss money every week to put into a pension fund but in the last few years the employer stopped paying the money into the fund. So basically theft.

Anyway my father was let go with a lot of other employees who have been in the company a long time. Then the employer employed a load of new people and started paying them less. He has been brought the court but the court made him pay a small fine of around 500 quid, when he owes his ex employee's thousands of euro.

He went about it a very sneaky way, most likely got legal advice on how to dodge paying back the money he owes.

My father has been trying to get the money back the last few years now but it's like the law is against. The pension people told him it wouldn't be worth going to court as he may lose and have to pay the court fees.

Has anyone any ideas on where to go that could help. My father was a very good worker for this man and he has been taken advantage of. Myself and father are not very good with legal proceedings.
