Hi, Starting as a first year in primary school teaching in St Pats next month and was wondering if any previous first years could give me an insight into what the year will consist of?

More specifically, hours, assignments, when teaching practice starts and how long it runs for?
And any other info would also be a great help
    Thanks

    Hey bohsboy,

Currently doing the B.Ed in Pats myself and i can safely say 1st year will be a great experience for you. Get involved in Freshers week and go out lots, you'll meet loads of 1st years out and about.

In terms of the books, i wouldnt get caught up too much in all that stuff to be honest, you'll hear lots about it. You can expect to be doing about 25 to 28 hours per week with a half day on a Friday. For teaching practice, you go to a school (of your choice) for 9 fridays after Christmas and then do one block week in June. Its grand and gives you a feel for the teaching and lesson planning side of things.

If you want to know more about specialism subjects or anything else send me a message!
