hey guys anyone have any idea what could be causing excessive tyre wear im barely getting 3 months less than 3000 miles from a set of back tyres

before you ask no im not doing donuts or anything like it .

i have had a 4 wheel alignment at 3 different places all say its perfect . the tyres are wearing really evenly car is running perfectly straight not pulling to either side .

i only put 2 new tyres on it 6 weeks ago and they are half worn already its wrecking my head and my wallet

Balljoints at the rear are common wear points, start there

Are they wearing on inside edge more than outside or is it even wear across tyre

all suspension bits have been checked and anything suspicious was changed and no they are wearing perfectly even across the tyre

Hankook at the moment had the same problem with the previous Dunlops and previous to that Goodyear

I had a similar experience with Dunlop Sport Maxx RT s on RWD car before.

Which Goodyear tyre was it ? I had Eagle F1s on front of same car and they were at 6 mm while dunlops were at 2.5 mm.

Bridgestones are known to be harder compound (and noisy) and going for touring tyres instead of High Performance tyres may help as well.

    Good luck with your search.

i dont think its down to the tyre i had a 350bhp car that i used to drive a lot harder and got at least 10,000 miles from tyres . this is a 160 bhp diesel automatic that i drive handy and i barely get 3000 miles .

the goodyears were Eagle F1 asymmetric 2 and the hankook are S1 evo had them both before and they wore well

Yeah i hear you but there are different models of S1 and some do wear faster.
Now i drive my 540i hard and my tyres last longer than that.
Are you sure tyre pressure is appropriate?

I have an E39 525i with Hankook Evo 1's on the rear and 2's on the front. There's about 9,000 miles on the rears and 6,000 on the fronts with hardly any wear and I drive mine on! I'd definitely be looking at getting your suspension looked at as E39's are known for needing refreshes every now and again!

what can i do 2 different mechanics tell me my suspension is perfect and ive already changes any parts that werent perfect .

this is a pic of the old tyres . i ordered new ones as soon as i noticed them near thread depth indicator . by the time i got them they were nearly bald .

as you can see they wore very evenly

That is a bit brutal alright! Not really sure what to tell you if two mechanics have already said it's perfect. You're not carrying excessively heavy loads in the back are you or is it used as a commercial?

What road type are you driving on and is it a lot of stop/start.

Is the auto box on normal mode or another function activated.

    Are you taking off hard?

no no heavy loads at all . boot normally empty

normal mode on the gearbox drive a mix of motorway and country roads , no stop start . not driving any differently that i always have .

any chance the rear differential being faulty could cause this ?

The camber seems right for even tyre wear but I would be thinking the tow in or out is wrong andthe tyres are srubing against the road as you drive. As both are worn the same both have tow in or out problem
