what is the difference between Car Valet & Car wash

I normally wash my car myself, outside with a brush, soap and powerhose, a rag to go around the door sills, and spray up the wheels to make them nice and shiny. I've a leather interior and use autoglym products to give it a rub down and polish on the dash board. Sometimes I go to a crowd who wash it for me, hoover the interior and a quick polish for a tenner. they do a decent job.

So having never gotten my car Valeted before, I want to give it a royal treatment, but I have no idea why I should fork over anything from 30 quid to 200 quid. I'm happy to spend a few quid, but i've no idea what to expect.

do they polish and wax the body after they clean it?
there are a few spots on my car, i have a feeling from the kids with suncream on their hands, do they bring them back up?

should I go somewhere or let them come to me? if i am getting it done, i want the best.

    any help or tips appreciated

A vatlet would usually be a wash and wax plus hoovering and polishing inside too, normally around 60 or 70 quid.

A full valet would be where they take out the carpets ect and wash them. Also clean in and around the engine. Normally over 150

Car wash, I would say is a basic wash of exterior body work - your 10 -25 job

Valet, would be the above plus all interior being cleaned. up 60-80 euro

I wouldn't expect any wax unless they are using some sort of shampoo/wax combination especially if it's side of road/car park place.

If your looking at full works I would look at a detailing session as it would then add wax, interior dressing and defect polishing if you have required it and could be couple days work. - This will depend on car condition, your requirements etc and can set you back alot, up to 500's if its bad

Like any tradesperson, mechanic, electrician ECT each persons skill and eye for detail varies and in the valeting game this is very apparent.
For some valeting is a 9am to 5pm.
For others valeting is a 7:00 am to 11+ pm
For some valeting is a way to make money.
For others valeting is a passion.

It's up to you and your situation and where you live, are you going to 'town' you could do stuff around 'town' while you wait. Do you mind someone coming into your property cleaning your vehicle.

    A car valet is:
    • a cleaning of a car/vehicle interior and/or exterior.
    A Car wash is:
    • A place where cars/vehicles are washed, exterior only.
