    Hi all,

I've a €100 McGuirk's voucher and a dodgy knee (no cartilage left) so need well made, good supporting and water proof shoes for winter. I already have trainer style shoes for the main season but as I was supposed to play today and got rained off I'm thinking it's time to invest in a quality pair of water proof shoes for the winter.

I'm prepared to pay a bit more for the right quality shoes. Suggestions?

Hard to go wrong with the Footjoy Dryjoys, very solid shoe and a good supporting and custioned insole. Retail for a good deal above €100 but if you can wait for a McGiirks sale you should be able to get them for about €110 and maybe ever €100.

I recently exchanged my leaking Nike shoes for a pair of Adidas. They come with a two year waterproof warranty as opposed to the 1 year Nike and Footjoy offer. Just something to consider.

    Thanks Guys,

The FootJoy DryJoy's sound like what I'm looking for, especially if I can get them with the BOA fastening system.

You don't know when McGuirks sale is due to happen by any chance?

There's a sale on in McGuirk's every week pretty much

I'd say drop in and take a look. Ask for best price, they always knock something off unless a really good sale is on. They had 15-50% off clothes last week, possibly still do, but not sure if it includes shoes.

FootJoy DryJoy's, I got these last winter and paid the extra for them. Can't fault them, but they are more expensive due to the water proofing and don't come down much even in the sale. Can't remember what I paid for them.

I'm in the same boat at the moment, looking at Ecco goretex AT €250ish

Got a pair of DryJoys coming up on 8 years ago.
I wear them as my winter shoe and wear something lighter in the summer.
Wore them yesterday - still keeping the wet out.

Same boat, Nike Lunar 2 v comfortable, keep clean and don't wear during Summer and you should get two wet seasons out of them

What an endorsement!! You've exactly the same requirement as me so I'll be following your example.

They are serious shoes at a serious price. I guess the premium is for the Goretex which should perform very well. Out of my league though :(

8 years...wow...my wife is right, i play too much golf. 2 at best on them. I got a recommendation on the Eccos, bit pricey but Im told they will last

The Eccos are indeed very good but like any golf shoe you need to take care of them. The Ecco Wax Oil is a must to maintain them.
