Download Speeds

This is purely download speeds, not promoting illegal downloading etc


Is there a technical reason why I get the full speeds on every speed test, but when I use Internet download manager, torrents or download in Firefox etc I get just over 10% of that speed?

You're getting exactly 240Mb with that test file, whats the problem?

Torrents rarely max out a pipe like that, seeds tend to be weaksauce.

It says 30,speedtest is 230

Ah i know about torrents, but even strong ones and using premium sites are the same

torrents are peer to peer and depend on others connections, other sites can have bandwidth limitations.
try downloading a game off steam or origin, i alwaysa get the full 240 meg download from them

The same or a bit slower on origin

Speedtest is Megabits per sec (Mb/sec) while the other downloads are reporting speeds as Megabytes per sec (MB/sec).

8 bits = 1 byte

Yep 30MB/s is same as 240Mb/s

A handy-dandy close-enough conversion is to divide whatever mbps you're on by 10, if you're getting over that, you're doing well.
