When is the latest that I can trim my hedge before the growing season ends such that any bare patches I create will have greened/filled back in? It's a Privet afaik. Thanks in advance.

I'm going to take back my privet this week by about 4ft. It is currently 6ft deep and taking up half the front garden. I expect it to look terrible for a few months but will have statred to recover by october and will fully recover by next summer. If yours is just a mild trim I would think if you cut it ack by mid Sep it will have fully greened up before end of thisyearsgrowth.
