It's not every day you see an RS4 on the roads and definitely not every day you get to work on one. Anyway i was straight into the van and out the door, 3 hrs drive 200km.

    My process:
    • Pre-spray mid/lower panels and tyres with TFR allowing to dwell for 3-5 minutes.

      12-IMG_20150815_092403_zpsnknnnwbh.jpg

    • Pre-spray wheels/brake calipers with wheel cleaner allowing to dwell for 3-5

      13-IMG_20150815_092414_zps0hgsjgpc.jpg

    • Pressure rinse top down to wheels.
    • Spray degreaser on areas of excess bug/grime build up allowing to dwell.

      14-rs4_zps2nwqp53m.jpg

      15-rs4-001_zps7utdcdui.jpg

    • Hand wash body with shampoo and synthetic wool wash mitt.
    • Spray mid/lower panels with tar dissolver allowing to dwell for 10-15 minutes.
    • Hand wash/clean wheel faces/barrels with brush and long handle wheel barrel brush.
    • Re-spray tar spots for removal via microfiber cloth.
    • Clay paint with lubricant.

    • Re-wash vehicle.
    • Dry vehicle and blow all cracks/crevices with compressed air.

    That the V8 one??

One of few Audi's I love the RS4's, the colour on that one is gorgeous to.

    Looks great.

    3 banger from a A3 cabriolet lol (yes v8)

I wonder what a black/black rs4 would look like though.

Is that a claying cloth in one of those pictures ? If so whats your opinion on them ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,080 ✭✭✭JAMES VTI S

Yes it is. I dont have much of an opinion other than it is faster and feels good on the hand. I wont be going back to a bar for bodywork and glass, wheels is the one exception. I do miss not being able to see the contamination, that's the exciting bit LOL

Good to hear, opinions on the internet seem divided about them so I was unsure. Can they still marr the paintwork ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,080 ✭✭✭JAMES VTI S

Yep they sure can do, to much pressure and not enough lubrication.

What were you using to lubricate?

    Soap and water at 1:1
    Plain, simple and cheap.

Can I ask what soap as some soaps are quite acidic? Was it ordinary washing up liquid or hand washing soap?

I seriously doubt he's charging people to use fairy liquid on their cars 👍🏻

    I hope not!! :P

Fairy liquid would be as good as anything for that purpose. As an APC Fairly would be very good at removing old wax residue. The car will be waxed after anyway.

Do ye think it is going to do any harm?
after all, this stage of the process is to REMOVE crap. Not add anything to the LSP ;)

I use a Fairy Liquid mix when stripping the layers of protection off the paint when I do a 'deep' clean and want to clay etc...

Best way to know you're working off a stripped surface and starting from the base layer up.

Nice job James you done a great job on the rear light's and bumper as they normally have heavy deposits of soot from the exhaust. ..

Is there not one the same as Dublin today?

    Clouds....

The power behind the rain today at times would strip the hardest dirt/protection off any car! :pac:

To be honest, I didn't think of that. Sorry for asking but it wasn't my intention to open a can of worms.

I know the next time I want to clay the car and/or strip back the old wax I know what to use.

    No harm done my man.
