Burglar alarm repair

Hi, I recently removed the metal cover from the burglar alarm main junction box, setting off the alarm. I managed eventually to stop the alarm by disconnecting the electric supply. There's a spring loaded device behind the cover. How do I replace the spring device and cover, or do I need to call the engineer. Thanks
