Very hard to beat the defy at that price point.

Cube peloton sl for the win at that price. €1149.

Just to piggy back on this, whats the current thinking advice on top end aluminium frame versus bottom end carbon? Ready to commit to a road bike upgrade (after debating whether the btw would go on mountain bike or a road bike).

At the moment in the price range I am looking at, the components are better for less money on the top end aluminium than the carbon equivalents. (eg Defy 1 vs TCR advanced 3) for the most part (Cube Agree bucking that trend a bit, and my current favourite).

The plan is to do a few sportives next year and (ducking for cover) tri's.

Giant tcr 1375euros is my favourite at the moment fantastic looking bike but I'm leaning towards the broadman team carbon for 1199euros as when you spend over a grand in halfords you also get 100 euro back in vouchers so you can get desent pedals or what ever
