Can anyone offer advice on the best waterproof golf trousers (as opposed to pull-overs which I have) and where to get them

I got trousers at the start of this year in sports direct, they are waterproof and are thermally lined. Have used them a good few times and they haven't let me down yet.

Ordered these only yesterday so can't comment how good they are but for this price I can't grumble.

Fleece lined and will be perfect for the cold winter days... some value. I got something similar last year and used them right through the middle of the winter and they were great

I have come across these and was wondering if anyone had bought them and where. They are quite expensive... the question really is are they worth it. Some said they boughtI was also having trouble figuring out the sizing. Ideally I am looking for 37/38" waste and 33" leg whereas some online sites are talking large/xlarge etc!!

I though "over pants" trousers came in S/M/L etc but proper trousers should have a waist and leg size.
The cheap lined waterproof trousers from sportsdirect are excellent, just don't wash them often and if you get a season or more out of them, great.

Absolutely love all things Mizuno, but those are a pile of sh1te, bought them and first time out they leaked through the zipper, they're not heat sealed, did get a full refund so not all bad.

I had a set of Typhoon wet gear and they let me down terribly about three months ago during a typical west of Ireland wet day on the course. I was soaked to the skin after 9 holes. Since then I've invested in Galvin Greens and haven't looked back. Yes, they are expensive but after playing two rounds in abysmal conditions and remaking bone dry I think they're worth the investment, especially with our 'summer' getting further behind us every day.

Are they Galvin Green trousers or over trousers? I have Galvin Green "over" trousers and there is no doubt they are the best but I only use them in the middle of the winter as I find them too heavy/warm for summer wear. I have a lighter pair of Footjoy "overs" that I use during the summer but it is a bit of a pain pulling them on and off as I did in the rain today... hence would like to get reasonably light rainproof trousers

Well I wear GG hats and top but found their trouser way too expensive as don't wear the trouser as much, mine are about two years old now and perfect since day one, maybe you just got a bad one, it happens

Yes perhaps you're right and I thought that may have been the case too, but on closer inspection the zipper isn't heat sealed and that was the weak point.
So I bit the bullet and got GG trouser and haven't looked back since.

Anyone know anything about Pro Quip Men's Aquastorm Waterproof Trousers? Came across them on Amazon for about €55 delivered and they seem to have belt loops and a zip fly. Reviews say they can be used as straight trousers or as overs. Still would prefer waterproof trousers that look like normal trousers... at a 'reasonable' cost.

Had a pair of golfino pants (not overs) that recently gave up the ghost. they were mega, full fleece lined, totally waterproof and I think I paid €100 for them.

Looking for an able replacement, so this is a great thread.

how much are we talking for the galvin green pants? I dislike the fact that they splash galvin green on everything (its real, look at me kind of stuff), but if they are the best job, I might bite the bullet.

I got a pair of these a few weeks ago. They have only been used once, during a round with some light showers. They might be a bit heavy for our so-called summer but I'm looking forward, if that's the correct phrase, to testing them out over the coming months.
I bought an XL and I take a 36"waist normally however I feel like a Large would have been enough. The legs are quite baggy and I wouldn't have the slimmest legs in the world.

All in all, they seem like good value but I may be proved wrong in a few months.

I think I saw the full suit on sale in Elvery's recently so they may have the trousers on sale separately. They had a good sale on last week so you might be lucky and get them cheaper than on Amazon, what with the exchange rate and all.

It's not a very thorough recommendation but I hope it helped a little bit.

Full suit is still on sale in Elverys @ €99 but only in large.
Further 10% can be grabbed for using the following code ABELAUG15

Yip, came on to say that sometimes it pays to look outside of the golf brand/shops.
Bought a pair of Craghopper waterproof trousers in Elverys a while back, perfect as long as it's not a hot day... very little worries there. They're plain and golf smart and the water proofing is good.

They started to let in water after 2 hours of an absolute downpour last week but that was a good hour after others in the group had complained about their golf waterproofs doing the same.

I went for Ping typhoon trousers in the end. They are proper trousers and look very like normal ping trousers... I went for ash. I got 36 long which I would say was 33" long with an elastic waste with about 1" exoansion... perfect for me. I used then for the first time in heavy rain last sunday at Powerscourt East and have to say not a drop of rain got through. The side pockets have a zip. The trousers have a double membrane and probably because of that I found them quite warn... many be better when the weather gets a little cooler. Overall happy but might prefer they were a little cooler to wear.

Bought a pair of Golfino trousers in Kildare Outlet Centre before they closed and they are still going strong. Really keep out the water. Think I paid about €50 for them.

Hate those pullover ones so been on the lookout ever since for more of the Golfino ones. Think they have another shop in the North but haven't gotten up there yet!
