Smoke coming from engine

Folks, there is smoke coming from my engine and when i lifted the bonnet it looked like something had exploded there was like white foam everywhere, what would have happened here?

Was the temperature gauge in the car showing a high temperature? Do you know if the gauge was working? Any warning lights on the dash?

Could be radiator is leaking or pretty much anything. You need to find out if it's steam or if it's something that has gone on fire.

the gauge seemed to be working ok and sat at the half way mark when driving, i thought i smelt oil last night so i checked the oil and it was fine, the check engine light started to come up on the dash this week

A mechanic will have to come out and check it or tow it back to their place.
You should not drive car.

It can be something small or something serious.Best let a pro have a look.
