Are we in the Matrix?

Ok this may not be a CT thread. But I'm banned from AH so I have to put it somewhere :P

Anyway, so we work, consume, raise families and pass on. There is much gratification to be had in life if we just knew how to get it.

In my 33 years on earth I've learned what everyone else suspects, the rich want more and more money and power for themselves. I've also learned that doing a job you enjoy is half the battle, most of us are stuck in corporate crap jobs we hate and fear keeps us in them ( me Included). Sometimes I think if we had solidarity together and if everyone joined together, downed tools and brought the whole system to a hault, we would get freedom from this slave matrix we are in. Does anyone else think along the same lines?

What would you eat then when all the food producers down tools?

I'm talking about oppressive multinational companies, banks, macdonalds, nike etc..if we don't consume then there won't be a market for the system to exploit. It takes courage to make a stand, no doubt about it.

It's a nice thought, but all the comforts of modern life and the stuff we'd rather be doing while at work would be gone if everyone just quit. We'd all be too busy trying to survive and live off the land.

I like the capitalist, consumerist, materialistic society we live in. Without it most of the stuff I enjoy doing on my days off wouldn't be possible.

I agree if you are doing what you love on the days you are working otherwise its just a waste of life imo

Most of us don't truly like what we do and just about bear it. I guess its finding that balance.

That balance is hard to maintain with so many traps out there (loans mortgages) etc that will usually keep one trapped in their crappy meaningless job ... sucking the life outta ye

I romanticise about a life by the coast surfing, growing veggies on a patch, few pints down the local, read good books, yoga, keeping fit, eating well, being happy.

It is possible of course but I worry about having enough for retirement, supporting a family etc. A lot of people who opted out of society in the 70s are in welfare accomodation here in the UK, back in the system so to speak.

In a way we do live in a Matrix. From a small age we are indoctrinated to give a Pavlov knee-jerk response to buzzwords given to us by the elites. Religion= oppression. Feminism=good. Socialism=good. Jews= perpetual victims. LGBT rights= good... So on and so forth. Deny it all you want but chances are most people think like this because they were so conditioned. To try to tell them otherwise would trigger an insane amount of defense mechanisms which protect the stability of the Matrix built up around them. Few people make it out because few people in reality want to.

This isn't a Conspiracy Theory so I'm closing the thread.

The foreigner residing among you must be treated as your native-born. Love them as yourself, for you were foreigners in Egypt. I am the LORD your God.

It is also intolerable to post in a less appropriate forum to circumvent a forum ban. Do not do anything like it again; thanks.
