Money entitlement? Social welfare

So I work 15 hours a week, part-time. My friend works 12. She found out she was entitled to money from social welfare and got quite an amount back. I was wondering if anyone knows what this is called as she can't remember. And what is the maximum hours you can work to be entitled to it? Thanks!
