Hi folks , I've been searching the Web for an answer to this but found conflicting answers so hopefully one of you are either using this or know a definite answer.
I'm thinking of changing my crankset or possibly just chainrings as I'll be going from compact to 52/36 so can stay 110 bcd.
If I was to buy an 11 speed set would it work with my 10 speed grouppo.
One site I came across says that it would but for faultless shifting I should change the chain to 11 speed also , that tthe chain is the same width internally with narrower external width to accommodate the extra cog on the rear cassette.
I know I could just buy a 10 speed one but there are more options / deals on 11 speed.

I have an 11 speed 50/34 105 chainset with a 10 speed groupset. It works flawlessly. I still use the 10 speed chain also.

And did you keep the 10 speed chain?

    itll work..
BUT will wear quicker than a 10 speed chain as its slimmer and the chain rings, sprockets and gaps are all marginally wider..
id leave a 10 speed chain on the 11 speed chainset..
ive done this and it works perfectly

I use a 10 speed chorus chain a 9 speed FSA crank and rings and while it mostly works, I have had the odd occasion where the chain has momentarily slipped between the chainrings when down shifting. It is quieter though, with less trimming needed.
