Flying with LiPo's - technology available to stop having to use a manual timer

Is there a way around this - 'tis a pain constantly having to use the timer on the radio given that it could be way out of line with what voltage the LiPo still has.

Do you have batteries in different states of degradation...what out when your shuffling between different rotor speeds?

    A radio with telemetry?

I have this attached to my quads. You can set the alarm to go off at a particular voltage e.g. 3.4v. Plug the battery balance lead into it.

Warning: It is very loud. Do not test it in the vicinity of your wife.

You could also use OSD to show the voltage if you're doing FPV.

Actually, what voltage do you normally set it to?

I hope the wife does hear it because I actually haven't met her yet....

I set it to 3.4v for a 3S battery. It gives me a little time to land the quad.

You might want to set it higher so that you have a few minutes of flight left when it goes off.

A bit of trial and error should let you work out what's best for you.

The LiPo alarms are brilliant allright.

What radio system are you using? Some are fairly easy to upgrade with telemetry.
