How do you go about leaving the union?

Write a letter to your rep advising them you are resigning, then advise payroll to discontinue your union sub deduction (if applicable)

Before doing that can I suggest that if you are unhappy enough to consider leaving that instead you think about becoming involved as a rep yourself and try to change things from the inside? I understand that might not be appropriate in your circumstances, but it's worth considering.

    Best of luck regardless.

Just write to HR and tell them to stop your deductions.

HR will tell the union who is/isn't paying.

Just be sure that you don't get into any employment difficulties, because you'll have to hire a lawyer yourself if you do.

I was in Mandate in a past life and wanted to discontinue my membership and I just advised my rep who sorted it out.

although started to get sidelined and isolated after leaving the Union. Was a pretty awkward experience and there was a lot of bull**** in the following months. Not saying it will happen to you, but just be a bit wise around the place for a bit after you leave.

although probably didn't help that I took a differing view to the union during a strike ballot
