Front discs and pads replaced + rear pads by my local mechanic.Handbrake has not been right since.Brought it back twice.First time for not holding properly on my slanted driveway.Second time it holds but there is a lot of travel of the footbrake. Also there are 9 clicks now when i put on the handbrake .I tried checking it on an empty carpark at low speed with a bit of gravel on it and the car
violently swung to my right at 90 degrees. Can i do anything myself to adjust the handbrake?Strangely enough it passed the NCT like this.

I think your car has rear drums rather than discs (u unless its an st).

If so it sounds like the hand brake want adjusted properly at the shoes.

I'd you take off the rear wheels there should be a little rubber grommet in the drum
This can be prised out, and if you look in you'll see a toothed wheel, this can be turned with a screwdriver or similar to adjust the hand brake

Bring it back to your mechanic and tell him to sort it you paid to have the job done right.
Is he a mechanic or a chancer ??

Thanks for that little push. I went back to the boss man and he sorted it himself with no further charge and apologised.:)
