Hi as a fresher I really haven't a clue but is there any way I could just randomly add in another module to my course business studies? Say like a language or something

No, you wouldn't be able to.

No, electives aren't available in DCU. However, there are an absolute ton of exchange students in DCU so if it was a language you were interested in learning you could very easily find a language exchange partner. The college also runs some language courses in the evenings but these are not related to your degree and would cost additional fees so may not be suitable.

As someone who had the opportunity to study electives (in UCD), they're not actually as amazing as they sound! A lot of the time people would end up incredible frustrated studying a module that didn't link in in any other way to their other modules and when the workload piled up, it's hard to get motivated when you start thinking the module has nothing to do with your degree anyway and all that. Just my personal experience but when I started in DCU I did not miss electives in the least!

The library is open to all students tho. You can borrow any book you want in there. On whatever subject you want.
