my mobile broadband has been very poor a long time now we have rang customer support on a number of occasions to complain, I have been a customer since 2011. we rang technical support 2 weeks ago they told us they would monitor our signal over the weekend before last and call us back we received no call, yesterday my wife rang back as our internet was not working again technical support told her there was no signal issue and that the modem/receiver was faulty an we had to ring the three shop in athlone we rang them and we were told we would have to pay thirty euro for a new modem and take out a new contract she said she was willing to pay for modem but not enter anew contract for something that might not work she was livid and said we would change supplier they said we would need to give thirty days notice . my wife wants to ring the ombudsman about this even though they wont help. how can it be a faulty modem when it works sometimes. we have paid up every month for five years for a crap service now they want us to enter a contract for another year of no signal and slow service THIS IS A DICGRACE

unfortunately fixed wireless is not an option for me, living in a rural area we are limited in choice.

Fixed wireless generally ONLY do rural areas.

Go to this map, drop the marker on your house and tick the Wireless ISPs option. It'll show you any company providing a service that may in fact hit your house. If any do, just give them a call and they should be able to tell you for definite.

I'm also experiencing huge issues with mobile broadband from Three. Was moved from O2 (who were only OK but a mile better than it's been recently). I know of others in the same boat. I'm researching to see what tech issues it might be but I also suspect that it might be throttled.

Also having issues with phone data, it's piggybacking on three.

I contacted them 2 days ago, tried working with the dongle (hotshot), I've tried it in various locations and speed tests are very poor.

Last speed test came in at ping 216ms - DL 0.97 Mbps - UL 0.05Mbps (this is better than previous over the last few days, sometimes it was so bad I was getting an error msg saying the webpage couldn't connect or just nothing).

Am I wrong to be so suspicious of previous O2 customers having these issues?

As I'm moving around it suits me to stay on mobile broadband, I can live without Netflix etc (amazing, I know!) but need ability to connect to email in particular.

Any advice on what questions to be asking or what to look for would be greatly appreciated

I also get the same error msg saying the webpage couldn't connect, its worst in the evening between 8-10. Our last monthly bill showed we only used just over 5GB in the whole month this due to just not being able to connect.

We were never with 02 always three we have a receiver on the wall outside, a modem and a booster box inside but since the national broadband scheme has finished the signal has been terrible.

As for watching Netflix or a match forget about it, just lucky to be able to check e-mail

anyone got any advice on changing to meteor
