    Its frightening really, portion size also plays a big part imo as well as the quality of food we are eating and the lack of exercise, it all adds up.

    Still surprised they are suggesting toast/cereal followed up by sandwich at lunch and potatoes for dinner. Also the vast majority of yoghurts are riddled with sugar.

    I get the overriding message however.

    They could have mentioned porridge, bacon, eggs, salad, nuts, cheese etc.

    There was a follow up article where they got someone (can't remember their qualification/title) to do a week's menu - there was porridge in that one, and definitely plenty of variation, although the absence of any snacks I would find very very hard to deal with.

    Schools need to teach pupils...

    Same old same old. Expecting that teaching kids about nutrition is going to make a change - what use is that when it's the parents who control the pocket money & it's the parents who buy the **** in the first place, for the little darlings to shovel down. Parents need to take a harder line from day 1 - as kids we got fizzy drinks on Christmas and birthdays and that was it.
