Hello, I just accepted an offer from UCD. Most likely I'll be living in Swords for the time of my studies. Anyone here has an advice on public transport? What are the best routes, how much money do I need for transport per week, how much time I'll need to UCD?

    Thanks

Pretty sure the 41 has a specialist service that goes to UCD and back once a day. Think its the 41x

I've just looked up 41x, it's 2.85euros per ride with the leap card.
Two rides a day, 10 rides a week, 40 rides a month = 114 euros a month for a bus? Is there really no cheaper option?

Student leap fares are capped at €20 per week.

On the student rate it's the cheapest option

Note, there are four from Swords Manor in the morning, and two from River Valley, do you know what road you will be living on in Swords?

And there are only three back in the evening, at 5:00/5:15 and 5:30, and the 5:00 is prone to leaving early

Does the cap include xpresso routes? So €80 a month and I can get as many rides as I like? :D

I'll be living in the Ridgewood, near the Forest Road, on the very south of Swords. Does everything finish till 17.00 on campus?

Right so in the morning you'll have the choice of two that go from Rivervalley, and in the evening three will go close to your area.

And having gone to UCD, no, life doesn't end at 5pm, but with the cap once you hit 20 euro, you'll just have to endure long bus rides later than about 5:00

I usually get the 5:15, avoid the 5:00 as it goes through River Valley which is the one you want, and don't know about the 5:30

But outside of those hours just take a bus into town and catch the regular 41(something) that goes through River Valley

    Thank you very much :)
41x needs 50mins to UCD? How long it takes if I miss it and go with the regular buses? An hour and a half, two hours?

Now, what about Leap card, should/could I do something before I start college? And I don't really get how it works, cause when I used Dublin Bus (few times) I told the driver where I'm going and he gave me the correct fare, but people with leap cards are just touching them to the validators when entering, is the price same for 1 stop and 10 stops?

It takes about 70 minutes with 2 buses. It takes about the same time to cycle if you prefer.

It will be explained how and where to get the student travelcard in your first week don't worry. Most other students will be in the same boat.

I'm living in Highfield. What's the closest bus stop for me? The UCD commute guide says the 41x goes through Swords Main Street & Pavilion but the DB website says it doesn't. Am I write in saying then that the closest bus stop for me is at Pinnockhill Roundabout?
